Coach David Overstreet, II
David Overstreet, II has been on the Chicago Bears coaching staff since February 2, 2022 and was named the nicklebacks coach in February of 2024. Prior to joining the Bears, Overstreet worked with the Indianapolis Colts for four seasons (2018-2021). He spent one season as the assistant defensive backs coach and three seasons as the team's defensive quality control coach. He has nine years of football coaching experience, including three seasons at the collegiate level. He helped Indianapolis reach the playoffs in two seasons (2018 and 2020) during his time with the franchise. While on the Colts coaching staff, the team's defense was ranked in the top-10 in the NFL each season.
Prior to Indianapolis, Overstreet spent two years (2016-17) on the coaching staff at Garden City Community College where he served as cornerbacks coach and defensive pass game coordinator.
In 2017, the Broncbusters registered an 8-4 overall record (5-2 in conference play) and made an appearance in the CHAMPS Heart of Texas Bowl. Overstreet was also a member of the 2016 Broncbusters team that registered a perfect 11-0 record and won the NJCAA Football Championship Game in the El Toro Bowl. Garden City boasted one of the best defenses in the country and ranked in the top-10 nationally in points per game (9.1, first), yards per game (216.2, fifth), passing yards per game (137.3, 10th), rushing yards per game (78.9, sixth) and interceptions (22, tied-fifth).
In 2015, Overstreet coached at Holmes Community College in Mississippi. The Bulldogs defense ranked 31st nationally in pass defense, limiting opponents to 187.0 yards per game through the air.
Overstreet was a four-year starter at the University of Missouri where he played both free and strong safety from 2002-2006. While he played at Mizzou, both the pass defense and overall defense were among the best in the country. Overstreet earned First Team All-Big 12 (Kansas City Star, Houston Chronicle) and Second Team All-Big 12 (Associated Press, Coaches) recognition in 2006. He was named a First Team All-Big 12 (Kansas City Star) selection following his junior year in 2005 in which he led the team with 100 tackles (71 solo).
After his collegiate playing career, Overstreet spent time with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent. After his professional football career ended, Overstreet went on to own his own marketing and sales firm.
Overstreet, who has a bachelor's degree in graphic design, was born in Dallas, Texas. He played at W.W. Samuell High School in Dallas and was a three-sport athlete (football, basketball and track). Overstreet is the son of Texas Football Hall of Famer, the late David Overstreet, Sr., who played running back for the University of Oklahoma, the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League and the Miami Dolphins.
